Rail freight service is provided by the Finger
Lakes Railroad, which crosses Cayuga County through the towns
of Sennett, Aurelius, Cayuga, and the City of Auburn. Passenger
rail service is available via Amtrak
from Syracuse.
Syracuse Hancock International
Airport is only 35 minutes east and has eleven major carriers
and extensive cargo service. Tompkins
County Airport in Ithaca (15 minutes south of southern Cayuga
County) provides convenient commercial and general aviation services.
General aviation facilities include airports in Weedsport, Skaneateles
and Jordan, all within 10 miles of the City of Auburn.
The New York State Barge
Canal runs through the north section of the County and allows
marine craft up to 300 feet long, with a maximum beam of 43 feet
and a draft of 12 feet. The Cayuga Seneca
Canal also traverses the County. The Port
of Oswego allows access to the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great
Lakes.
